After some four years, The Great Divide marks the return of the two powerful heavy metal vocalists in duet, Symphony X's Russell Allen and solo artist Jorn Lande. It's quite a remarkable thing when you think about. In an Allen commented upon future albums and his relationship with Lande saying, "I don't know what he's up to.

Feb 01,  · Nothing and no one on this album disappoints. This an excellent hard rock meets heavy metal album. There are three great melodic songs, "Down from the Mountain," "Lady of Winter," and "Reaching for the Stars." Of these three, Allen & Lande collaborate on the first and then the second one is Jorn's and the last one is Russell's/5(55).

“Lady of Winter” is another interesting one, as for nearly a minute it riffs hard on the Savatage classic “Edge of Thorns” and makes you wonder what an Allen-Lande covers album would be like. It’s a relief more than anything that Timo Tolkki didn’t completely wreck the Allen-Lande streak.
